Yard News – Plenty Going On Behind the Scenes

We have been a little quiet with our blogs and news updates recently, but there has certainly been plenty going on behind the scenes at Somerset Reclamation.

As always, we have been busy sorting and reorganising the yard. We recently had a large load of plastic pallets delivered to replace some of our wooden ones. Wooden pallets eventually rot when items are stored on them for long periods, so the plastic replacements should be a much better long-term solution.

We have also been making more space around the yard and finally took down our old COVID marquee. It served us well, but several years of Somerset weather had certainly taken its toll!

During the long dry spell, we were able to leave plenty of stock outside. With the rain returning, we have spent a good deal of time this week moving items back under cover and making sure they are properly protected. We have also tried to gather similar types of stock together, rather than having them dotted around different parts of the yard. Hopefully, this will make it easier for customers to browse and for us to find things when enquiries come in.

A large quantity of used bulk bags has been sent to Pete King Plastic Recycling, helping us clear some much-needed space while ensuring the bags are recycled responsibly.

Over in the stone area, plenty of stone has been sorted and piled, ready to be chopped into building stone over the autumn or prepared as orders come in. We have also been getting several drystone walling orders ready for collection and delivery.

There is always something happening here, even when our website news page goes a little quiet. We will try to keep you better updated with new stock, ongoing projects and the general day-to-day activity around the yard.
