What’s Coming In
The collection includes a range of traditional rectangular troughs, mostly in limestone and similar local stone. Expect:
-
Solid, heavy construction
-
Rounded internal corners from years of wear
-
Natural lichen, moss, and surface patina
-
Some with original drainage holes
-
Variations in size, depth, and wall thickness
Each one is different. Some are deeper and ideal for planting, others are lower and wider, better suited as water features or garden focal points.
Uses in the Garden
Stone troughs are one of the most versatile reclaimed items. Customers typically use them for:
-
Alpine or herb planting
-
Wildlife or dog water bowls
-
Small ponds or water features
-
Patio or courtyard centrepieces
-
Kitchen garden planters
Because they’re solid stone, they cope well with frost and will last for many years outdoors.
Condition
These are reclaimed agricultural pieces, so expect:
-
Surface wear and weathering
-
Old repairs or small chips in places
-
Natural staining from years of use
We normally leave them as found, as most people prefer the original character rather than a cleaned or restored finish.
Availability
They’re due into the yard during February and will be available to view at our yard in Ston Easton. Sizes and quantities will be limited, and the best pieces tend to go quickly.
