We seem to have gathered quite a collection of reclaimed white marble offcuts around the yard.
Many are broken pieces that are simply too good—and too large—to throw away. Most appear to be a similar thickness and could potentially be cut down into smaller, more usable sizes. They all need a good clean, but underneath the dirt and marks there are some lovely pieces of old marble waiting to be reused.
These offcuts could be ideal for small shelves, table tops, hearth details, window sills, splashbacks, restoration work, craft projects or decorative features. As reclaimed pieces, they naturally vary in size, colour, veining and condition, which gives each one its own character.
We also have several larger marble slabs, including old washstand and wash-table tops. Some retain their original shaping and details, while others could be repurposed or cut to suit a completely new project.
It is always difficult to discard good-quality old materials when they still have plenty of potential. With a clean, a little imagination and possibly some careful cutting, these pieces of reclaimed marble could be given a completely new lease of life.
